Old Money from The Bank of Charlottetown Prince Edward Island

This was a spurious bank that never really existed.  Bank notes from this institution are dated May 1st 1852.  These circulated briefly in New York before it was realized that they were no good.  One, two, and three dollar banks notes were printed, as was a five pounds issue.  Today we are left with lots of proof notes, but only a handful of issued bank notes.  These are definitely rare but they are kind of in a gray area for most collectors due to the fact they were not issued by a true chartered bank.
