Old Money from The Kingston Bank

The Kingston Bank is most likely a spurious banking institution.  The Commercial Bank of the Midland District (a legitimate bank) was traditionally just called “The Kingston Bank.”  So back in 1837 some scammers decided to create bank notes that are supposed to look like they are from The Kingston Bank.  We show a five dollar bank note at the bottom of this page.  Any note that is unsigned or signed in blue ink is a remainder.  Issued bank notes are dated, numbered, and signed in dark ink.  Rawdon, Wright, Hatch, New York printed these bank notes.  They can be signed by W.W. Roy, H.L. Moor, J. Smith, or C. Lounsbery.  The dates used are 1837, Oct. 12 1841, and Aug. 3 1843.
