Value of Old Banknotes from The Commercial Bank in Montreal, Canada

Old Money from The Commercial Bank in Montreal

The Commercial Bank in Montreal didn’t really exist.  It was a spurious bank.  Three, five, and ten dollar bank notes with a date of June 1 1837 were released for circulation.  The printing was handled by Rawdon, Wright & Hatch New-York.  F.E. Whiting and H.H. Harris signed each bank note.  Due to the fact that these are all essentially fake bank notes, they have a limited following today, but that does not mean that they are worthless.  Contact us for details.
