Old Money from The Banque Internationale Du Canada in Montreal

The Banque Internationale Du Canada operated in Montreal from 1911 until 1913.  On April 15th 1913 the bank was purchased by The Home Bank of Canada.  Despite just being open for two years, the bank did manage to issue currency.  See our guide below for more information.

Bank Notes from 1911:

The Banque Internationale Du Canada issued five, ten, and twenty dollar bills.  The $5 bills are dated as Oct. 2nd 1911.  The $10 and $20 bills are dated as Oct. 17th 1911.  The American Bank Note Company in Ottawa handled the printing duties.  Five dollar bank notes have a portriat of just R. Forget.  The two higher denominations feature R. Forget and R. Bickerdike.  Forget also signed each bank note.  All bank notes from this institution are rare.  Some notes could have a red overprint of “M M” and others could have a blue “QUEBEC” overprint.  We are buyers.  Please contact us if you need help valuing your bank note.
