Description: The American Bank Note Company printed currency for the Dominion of Canada for the first time in 1897. They started by redesigning the one dollar bill. All examples from this year have portraits of the Countess and Earl of Aberdeen. The central vignette has a logging scene. Each note has a nice green tint.
Varieties: Several different people signed the left hand side of 1897 $1 bank notes. J.M. Courtney always signed the right side. Otherwise there are no varieties other that your typical serial number and series letter differences.
