Value of Old Banknotes from The Exchange Bank Company of Chippewa, Canada
Old Money from The Exchange Bank Company of Chippewa
This bank didn’t really exist. It was “created” by a group of fraudsters so paper money could be printed and circulated to defraud anyone who accepted it as legal tender. Fortunately, the general public learned of the scheme fairly quickly. These were originally released in the Buffalo area. Despite being completely worthless when they were originally printed, these are actually very rare today. Five and ten dollar denominations were printed. They are dated as being from Jan 2 1837. Rawdon, Wright, Hatch, New-York is referenced as the printer. Please let us know if you have one of these bank notes for sale. We are buyers.
