Value of Old Banknotes from The Lower Canada Bank in Montreal
Old Money from The Lower Canada Bank in Montreal
The Lower Canada Bank did not actually exist. It was a phantom or spurious bank. Money was printed by Rawdon, Wright & Hatch New-York. Apparently 4,000 sheets were printed. Each sheet had four bills on it. One, two, and three dollar bills were released into circulation. Each note should be signed by G.D. White. Despite being worthless at the time, these are actually quite rare today, especially for the one and three dollar denomination.
