Value of Old Banknotes from The Metropolitan Bank of Montreal, Canada
Old Money from The Metropolitan Bank of Montreal
The Metropolitan Bank was a short-lived institution located in Montreal from 1871 until 1876. It issued bank notes with two different dates. The two lower denominations ($4 and $5 bills) were dated as 1st February 1872. Ten, fifty, and one hundred dollar bills were dated as 1st May 1872. The British American Bank Note Co. Montreal & Ottawa handled the printing duties. Each note has an engraved portrait of Maurice Cuvillier and Henry Starnes. Starnes also signed each bank note. All bank notes from The Metropolitan Bank are very rare. Please contact us if you have one.
