Value of Old Banknotes from The Westmorland Bank of New Brunswick Bend of Petitcodiac, Canada
Old Money from The Westmorland Bank of New Brunswick Bend of Petitcodiac
Bend of Petitcodiac was renamed Moncton. So our guide is broken down to Bend of Petitcodiac and Moncton bank notes. The Westmorland Bank was open from 1854 until 1867. It had branches in Sackville and Charlottetown. It ultimately failed due to losses on important accounts. Our guide below has more information about its bank notes.
Bank Notes from 1854 – 1859:
The Westmorland Bank of New Brunswick issued one, two, four, twenty, and forty dollar bills. They can be dated as June 1 1854, 2 Apr 1855, 1 May 1856, or 1 November 1859. These are usually found in very low grades today. That is because the paper they were printed on was very thin, and these circulated for a long period of time. Most notes are going to sell for around $200 to $300. Notes in better condition or scarcer varieties can certainly be worth more money though. Contact us for exact pricing information.
Bank Notes from 1861:
All of these bank notes from The Westmorland Bank of New Brunswick are dated as August 1 1861 or Aug. 1st 1861. These are broken up into several varieties based upon who signed them. The signing possibilities are J. McAllister and O. Jones, Wm. C. Jones and O. Jones, and John S. Trites and O. Jones. The varieties are broken down even further based on which company printed the bank notes. Many of these sell for less than $100. However, certainly types can be worth a lot more than that. Please send us pictures of your bank note and we can tell you what variety you have.
