Value of Old Banknotes from The Pictou Bank of Nova Scotia, Canada

Old Money from The Pictou Bank of Nova Scotia

This is the only chartered bank that was located in Pictou, Nova Scotia.  It opened in 1873 and closed in 1887.  Four, five, and ten dollar bills were printed by The British American Bank Note Co. Montreal for use by The Pictou Bank.  Notes are dated as either 2nd Jan. 1874 or 2nd Jan. 1882.  Surprisingly, the lowest denomination happens to be the rarest for this bank.  Five dollar bills are the most common.  Signed and issued bank notes are scarce.  Remainders (as shown on this page) are much more available, usually for less than $1,000 each.  Please contact us if you need a free appraisal on your bank note.
