Old Money from La Banque De St. Hyacinthe

La Banque De St. Hyacinthe was open from 1873 to 1908.  Despite a relatively long existence, it issued very few bank notes.  These are all rare today.  Our guide below has some more information.

Bank Notes from 1874:

All of these notes are dated as 2 Janvier 1874 or 2 Jan 1874.  The British American Bank Note Company handled the printing duties.  Four, five, and ten dollar bills were issued.  All 1874 bank notes have an engraved portrait of P. Bachand.  Today we usually only see proofs (as pictured below).  Issued bank notes with serial numbers and signatures are very rare.

Bank Notes from 1880 & 1892:

Five and ten dollar bills were dated as 1 Julliet 1880 or 1 Juil 1880.  Twenty dollar bills were printed by The Canada Bank Note Co. Montreal and The British American Bank Note Company.  The $20 bills are dated as 2 Janvier 1892.  All bank notes from this time period are signed by G.C. Dessaulles; the same man is also featured on five and ten dollar bills.  The two lower denominations are occasionally available, but still expensive.  Twenty dollar bills are very rare and beautiful; very few are known to exist.  Please contact us if you have any value questions.  We happily provide free appraisals.
