Value of Old Banknotes from The Farmers Bank of St. Johns, Canada

Old Money from The Farmers Bank of St. Johns

The Farmers Bank of St. Johns is just one of many fake, phantom, or false banks to pop up in 1837.  These bank notes were issued during a period of time where you could get away with circulating completely fictitious bank notes.  Today these notes are actually surprisingly valuable, especially the strange denominations like $1.25 and $1.50 bills.  Other more traditional denominations like $1, $2, $3, $5, and $10 bills were also printed.  They too can be rare.  Signors include (but are not limited to) J.B. Gridley, Cossins, John T. Rice, J.B. Chapman, and G.W. Collins.  Dates can be handwritten or engraved; all dates are in 1837 or 1838.
