Text:   Authorised By Chap. 31 Of The Revised Statutes Of Canada – Legal Tender Note For Use By Banks Only – The Dominion Of Canada – Will Pay To The Bearer On Demand – Being a bank to which ” The Bank Act” of Canada applies on the conditions mentioned below – One Thousand Dollars – At the office at any assistant receiver general of Canada – This note is good only in the hands of bank to which the bank art of Canada applies and will be redeemed only when presented by one such banks – Ottawa, July 2nd 1896
