Dominion of Canada June 1st 1878 Two Dollar Bill
Description: The Earl of Dufferin is pictured on the front of all 1878 $2 bills. Only about 50 authentic bank notes are known to exist. There are hundreds of counterfeits out there. If you have an 1878 $2 bill then please send us some high resolution photos of it. We can tell you if it is real and what it is worth.
Varieties: The 1878 $2 bill we have pictured has blue serial numbers and is issued for Montreal. St. John notes have black serial numbers. Toronto notes have red serial numbers. Notes from Halifax have green serial numbers. Notes from St. John are the rarest for the series. Halifax notes are also very scarce. The Montreal and Toronto varieties are more available, but still elusive in high grades.
